Quiet times

19 Aug 08

I have realised lately that I have had less and less to say here and it is odd. I think Twitter has a lot to answer for - the ease of short, snappy comments and the constant stream of ideas and thoughts is quite enticing. It also has something to do with the fact that more people I actually know read this so I suppose it has made me more careful. I have said before that I am this massive paradox and even my closet friends and family rarely know it. I may be confident and happy but I am also neurotic and desolate. That is such a good word for how I feel so much of the time lately. Dictionary.com defines ‘desolate’ as:

  • barren or laid waste; devastated
  • deprived or destitute of inhabitants; deserted; uninhabited.
  • solitary; lonely
  • having the feeling of being abandoned by friends or by hope; forlorn.
  • dreary; dismal; gloomy

I love it when one word can say so much. Anyway, right now I am going to snuggle up under the covers watching Juno and enjoying the early night. And hopefully tomorrow I can find some other words which say so much but are less likely to bum you the eff out.

Hi there,

Couldn’t pass by your website without saying hello :-) I was googling A363 trying to work out whether to take it this coming term and one of your blog posts came up.

I’ve just started a blog, but I’ve got to say I love what you’ve done here. Mine is a little too serious I think - I love your writing style.

Good luck with your OU courses!

I tried twitter, but I didn’t like it, which is weird, because I love updating my facebook status.

You are so right. I have done the same

You are so right. I have done the same thing–made comments on twitter that might otherwise have gone into blog posts. Considering I’m a lazy blogger to begin with, I can’t afford to post even less. Bummer.

So, I was really confused when I read your comments,

So, I was really confused when I read your comments, because “stephanie a” wrote something that sounded exactly like what I would say, and my name is Stephanie. I got really confused here thinking, “Did I leave that comment and forget?!” I actually had to check her website to make sure it wasn’t me, lol.

Yea, being back in school is playing tricks on my brain. ;-)

But like Stephani A, I haven’t been able to get into Twitter, even though I’m on there. I barely use it! (And I totally get being more careful about what you write since people you know read your blog. I am the same way!)

Honey, so surprised you feel like this, you have such a great life, husband, friends, and a really high level of intelligence, but I guess everyone feels like this from time to time, I think it would be in-human not to xx
